Located about 10-15 mins away from Idanre Hills, it’s a no brainer that The Rock Valley Hotel would be the accommodation of choice for tourists visiting the area. Recommended to us by Bids, this simple hotel met our needs during our overnight trip to the sleepy little town last year.

Rock Valley Hotel can be found on Odode Road in Idanre. It meets the basic needs of visitors to the town and is as comfortable as can be. Their rooms are spacious, bed sizes are fair and each room contains a fridge and a television. They also have a balcony where guests can relax and take in the fresh, unpolluted air of Idanre town. We used this area for our lunch and the party later on that evening.

The customer service was decent with a side of attitude.

However, I did like that they attended to any issue that they got as quickly as possible. An example that comes to mind was when those on the ground floor felt left out and asked to be put on the same floor with the rest of the tour group. The front desk attendant was happy enough to relocate the rooms at no extra fee even though they were not the same room type as before.

Also, despite the slight attitude, they did allow us get up to our own devices and we were surprised our party wasn’t shut down. We even noticed the security guard bursting a few moves to our music so all round, most of the staff were quite pleasant.

They also graciously gave us one a staff of theirs to take us round to see Idanre town which ended up with dinner at Mama Chikodiri (This is a post for another day).

At the back of the main hotel building is a small car park and a few rooms; one of which we were told our driver could sleep in.

They have a dining area and a kitchen but we didn’t make use of these facilities.

The hotel is good value for money with rooms starting from as low as N8,500 ($26) per night and if that isn’t enough to convince you, you’ll fall in love with the hotel because of the picturesque view it has to offer especially early in the mornings.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we didn’t have too much to complain about. I would advice that you take cash along for payment just in case. While we were there, there was an issue with their POS and we had to look for an atm so as to settle the bill.

Rating – 7.5/10
