I got the chance to spend a weekend at Le Meridien Ibom and I tell you it was beautiful.
Located in Uyo and sitting on 174 hectares of land, is a resort with 168 rooms and a world class 18-hole golf course with a lot more to offer.
It was a weekend filled with lots of fun, food and golf.
Le Meridien gets a lot of international hype because of its golf course therefore it isn’t a surprising choice for a lot of tournaments, both local and international. Nothing beats a round of golf in a beautiful resort. It is fondly referred to as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Nigeria.
I was there during the LM Open so there was a lot of activity going on. The course is managed by Mr. Roger Yates who is said to be a PGA professional (Professional Golfer’s Association of America).
Different holes offer you a spectacular views which is part of the appeal. For the lovers of golf, it boasts a par of 72 (number of strokes an expert golfer is expected to need to complete the play of one hole on a golf course) and has an overall length of 6361 meters.
They also offer individual and group coaching programs for those who would love to learn and a clinic program is available for the corporate clients. If you just want to practice your swing, you can head off to the driving range. Children are also not left out of the fun with the golf academy set up for them.
After a game of golf, you can head over to the ‘De Terrace Club House’ and celebrate your win or loss (as the case may be) and also use the opportunity to shop for more golfing gear in their shop.
If you’re looking for a state of the art golf course or you’re in Uyo, why not stop by Le Meridien and tee off. Don’t walk on the greens though or Roger will be mad at you for attempting to ruin his carefully manicured course. Also remeber to be quiet as noise throws golfers off.
*Fun fact – Golf is said to be a game for honest people as you record you score yourself. If you cheat on your score card, other players are quick to call you out. Save yourself the embarrassment and keep it honest.
