Restaurant Of The Week | The Place

The place reminds me of a cafeteria or canteen where you walk into and choose what you want to feel your tummy up with. It also comes alive at night with its club/bar with some locations offering hotel services. It prides itself as being a one stop shop for everything you need; having something for everyone at affordable prices which is probably the main reason behind their name.

The purpose of the jaunt was to try out their food. They serve meals varying from traditional to intercontinental. Snacks are also available for those just looking to grab a quick bite to eat. Their selling point is that the variety they have on offer and while it’s easy to fall to the problem of being a ‘jack of all trade and a master of none’, they do a decent job with the quality of their food.

They’re not big on decor but it’s neat and clean which is at least the basic requirement of a restaurant. The biggest problem here are the queues as they tend to be quite busy. As you can guess, it is a hit with people who don’t feel like cooking and also bachelors. Infact pretty much anyone looking for options at a decent price heads to the place.

Our picks for the day were

  1. Fried Rice and Shrimp Sauce

  2. Yamarita (yam coated with eggs) with fish

  3. Yam porridge with beef.

The rice was ok, nothing special (we should always remember there’s rice at home when ordering out). However the yam porridge and the yamarita hit the spot.

‘The Place’ is littered in various locations around Lagos so it shouldn’t be difficult to hop into one and try what’s on order.

If you’ve been to ‘The Place’, what did you think of it? Did their meal do the trick or was it just another way to put food in your belly.

Additional Info

  1. Depending on the location, some restaurants offer parking. On Friday nights, get there early if you don’t intend to park faraway as those are their busiest nights.

  2. Cash/card are acceptable forms of payment

  3. They offer private dining areas for celebrations
