Restaurant Of The Week | Craft Gourmet
You Fancy huh? When I picked Craft Gorumet by Lou Baker to have a celebratory Sunday lunch I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had seen pretty pictures that gave me fancy/Parisian vibes but that was pretty much all I knew. Tucked in Mega plaza is this quaint little restaurant that looks like it didn’t really belong in a shopping mall. We stepped in and I absolutely loved the space. It was small but the space was used wisely and the mix of colors worked well with the lighting. It

Culture Trip | Kalabari Weddings
KALABARI TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE RITES This is the last of our Kalabari series and it was incredibly nice Golden Cyril Dapper pen this down for us with Ogbemi Thomas. Thank you. A big thank you to one of our favorite instgrammers Enefaa Thomas who made this possible by talking to his brother Ogbemi who in turn reached out to Mr Dapper. It’s a long read, but we’re sure you’ll enjoy it. So you finally met the woman of your dreams, the one you intend to spend the rest of your life

Empty Parks | National Children’s Park & Zoo, Abuja
National Children’s Park & Zoo, Abuja ‘I didn’t know we had a zoo in Abuja’ – said a friend who resides in the nation’s capital when she heard we were going there. Heck we didn’t know too but since it was on our Abuja itinerary we knew there had to be something like that there. Located in Asokoro behind the presidential villa lies a large expanse of land that has animals scattered around in various nooks and crannies, a play area for kids and a lake side cafe in an area desi

Hotel Review | Echelon Heights Hotel
A NIGHT AT ECHELON HEIGHTS HOTEL Location: 73 Ken Sarowiwa Road, Formerly Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Nigeria I found out that I had to attend a traditional wedding in Port Harcourt 24hrs before the wedding. I pulled out my phone and got on Travelstart to book my ticket. My plan; fly in early to Port Harcourt, attend the wedding and fly back to Lagos that same day. Unfortunately, there were no late flights back to Lagos available. Spending the night in Port Harcourt was the

Restaurant Of The Week | Thai Thai
A Taste of Thai Cuisine in Lagos Thai Thai is a small kitchen that serves authentic thai food with their head chef coming straight from Bangkok. To keep up with their motto which is: ‘keep things fresh & tasty just like mama made it’, their ingredients are locally sourced and free of MSG (Monosodium glutamate). Now it’s not news that we love food over here at Unravelling Nigeria and Thai Thai clearly caught wind of it and invited us to a menu tasting with a couple of other fo

From The Horse’s Mouth | Naija Nomads Unravels Epe Mangroves
Wading Through Epe Mangroves If you’ve been reading this site long enough then Naija Nomads needs no introduction. If this is your first visit, they are a Nigerian based travel company that we regularly collaborate with and simply put, they’re our sister travel company. You can also follow their nomadic adventures here. The nomads recently explored Epe Mangrooves and we got the head nomad to spill on how it went especially as it’s a location not many people have heard of or v

Animal Love | Ibadan Zoo
A DAY AT THE ZOO Ibadan Zoo always comes up whenever people mention the city. Apparently it is a must visit for anyone who goes to the ancient city. My opportunity to visit came when Jenny visited Nigeria. This zoo can be found in the University of Ibadan and was set up (like with all University zoos). It was established in 1948 primarily to support teaching and research in the Department of Zoology. When the animal collection grew in number and diversity and it became a full

Daycation | How To Spend The Day in Ibadan
DAYCATION IN IBADAN Ever wondered how you can spend the day in Ibadan? Well we accepted the challenge when we took a lovely family to Ibadan for the day. We have a video at the bottom of this post to prove it. 🙂 We didn’t leave Lagos on time so we couldn’t tick off all the spots on the list but below you can see where we did make it to (and in the order that we did it). You can use it to plan your itinerary for your Ibadan daycation but ensure you leave Lagos in good time. C

Wild Life Park | Federal University Of Technology, Akure
WILDLIFE SANCTUARY AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE (FUTA) Road trips can be very stressful; so on the journey to Lokoja, we decided that a few hours into the trip, we would stretch our legs and use the opportunity to see a tourist attraction. We passed through Ondo state and decided to stop at FUTA to see their wildlife park. This park was set up to allow the students carry out research that apply to animal behavior, feeding, habitation, fauna/floral compositio

Fallen Heroes | Lokoja Cenotaph
FALLEN HEROES If you’ve been following our Lokoja series, then by now you know already know that this is a town that is pregnant with history. It’s importance in Nigeria cannot be emphasized enough. ‘The Cenotaph’ was the last site we visited during our tour of Lokoja. It was erected in honor of Nigerians and Africans that fought in the first world war. I can’t think of a better tourist site to use to wrap up our Lokoja adventure. Memorabilia such as three heavy artillery gun

The Other Side of The River | Gbobe Village
GBOBE VILLAGE On the other side of River Niger and Benue, we have Gbobe Village. Capt Danlandi who led our boat ride on the river thought it would be a nice touch to show us the village. We took a walk round the village and saw how they other side lived. Canoes docked by the bank of the village The people of Gbobe live a very simple life and still practice the communal living tradition that is quickly losing ground in Nigeria. They cook together, eat together, work together a

Luxury & Comfort | Lakowe Lakes
A DAY AT LAKOWE LAKES GOLF & COUNTRY ESTATE Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate is an exclusive 308 hectare residential golf estate owned and developed by Mixta Africa, so imagine our excitement when we were invited to a media brunch at the estate. I had heard about Lakowe a lot of times and a former boss of mine went there religiously to play golf so I was looking forward to finally seeing what the fuss was about. Due to the distance, we were told that transportation would be

From The Horse’s Mouth | Wummi Unravels Shere Hills
Wummi slid into our comments section on our instagram page about the view from the top of Shere Hill. I hated her a little bit because I’ve whined constantly about how the usual rite of passage in my secondary school was exploring Shere Hills. My year however couldn’t do it because unfortunately there were tensions in Jos when it was our turn. Despite my fake hate, I knew I just had to talk to her about her trip. She is an engineer at day and a designer at night but describes

Boat Rides | River Niger & Benue
If you’re Nigerian, then you should know how important River Niger and River Benue are. River Niger is the principal river in West Africa and runs through different areas in Nigeria. River Benue is its major tributary and they merge in Lokoja, Kogi State hence the nickname ‘The Confluence Town’. It is also part of what makes up the ‘Y’ on the Nigerian map. Source – Urhobo Historical Site There was no way a visit to Lokoja would be complete without this and when we heard we co
