Lakowe Blues
A while ago, we wrote on our very first visit to Lakowe Lakes and a few people had asked us if the accommodation section was available. Well we’re glad to inform you that they are finally ready to be inhabited. In fact some of the accommodation types already have permanent residents.
A few weeks ago, some of us got the opportunity to experience Lakowe Lakes in a different way. We slept over and took part in the activities available.
The ride to Lakowe took 30 mins from the take off point (Jakande) and immediately we got there, we settled into our accommodation, had lunch, rested then we were off to tour the facilities.
The accommodation types available are:
1 & 2 bedroom lofts (most of us stayed in the one bedroom lofts.)

The lofts are inclusive of a living area, internet, DSTV and a little kitchenette which means guests can bring their own food to cook or warm up if they don’t want to eat at the restaurant (or order room service).
The lofts were nicely decorated and mine in particular had a patio where you can sit and enjoy the sunsets while drinking a cup of tea (or cocktails).
On our tour, we visited the cottages which were amazing. All the cottages are by the lake and even though I thought the lofts were fabulous in a millennial sort of way, the cottages stole my heart (the flies however were a lesson on how you should always have repellent on).

Next, we headed to the club house area from where we got a boat and went fishing. Paddling those boats were no joke but the team fit fam in me was happy for a bit of the leg work out. The lake is man made and even though it’s quite small, the ride around it was enjoyable.

A few paddles later, it was time to show our golfing skills. Now golf seems pretty easy right? I mean all you need to do is swing the metal stick, hit the ball and yell ‘FORE’. How wrong we were.

It was so much work. From having the right stance to ensuring you’re swinging at the right angle. We slowly realised at the golf clinic that golfing requires a lot of skill and upper body strength. After a while I resorted to watching everyone else, taking their pictures and laughing at them. It was a such fun activity and our instructors definitely indulged us a lot more than I thought they would.

With our golf lessons done, we went to get ready for dinner which was at the club house. After dinner, we settled for our outdoor movie experience filled with wine, popcorn, drinks and scary moments after which we called it a night.

The next day, we woke up bright and early for a workout, had breakfast, rode bicycles around and officially came to the end of our staycation at Lakowe Lakes.

It was a great way to spend the weekend and it was especially nice that Mofe and Amarachi were there too. (We weren’t the only ones there, but we won’t tell if you don’t…lol).
Favs
Some phone networks don’t work properly here and while there’s WiFi in the apartments, it tends to be off and on.
While more activities need to be added to keep people occupied (especially those looking for a lot of things to do), it’s an excellent place to go to when trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of Lagos.
Rates to stay at the accommodation start at N50,000 and an extra fee is required for some of the activities.
